Flood wall planned for the north bank of the Teifi
NRW put a tidal flood scheme on the table this spring to cut risk to about 90 homes and businesses on Cardigan’s north bank. High tides have already put water on roads and into properties along the Strand.
The design hardens the river edge, adds public space, and sets the wall back in places to make intertidal habitat. Part of the wall would sit in Gloster Row car park. That is the line that landed with boat users: the slipway into the Teifi would close for good.
A drop-in was held in the Tower Room at Cardigan Castle on 13 May 2026. The formal comment window closed on 18 May. Planning is the next fight. For anyone living between Castle Street and the quay, this is the scheme that decides how the town meets a higher sea.
